These days we have to be more and more careful about the amount we have to drink before we decide to be in charge of a vehicle. This isn’t only because of the strict drinking and driving laws, but also because we know of the dire consequences of drinking before we drive can have.

TV advertising campaigns bought about making the nation aware of just how bad an accident could be if you are drunk and in charge of any type of vehicle. Would you like to be driving and have an accident? No one would. However if that accident is whilst you are under the influence of alcohol then everything is made much worse, even if the accident wasn’t strictly your fault. When you have had a drink things like your hazard perception and reaction times are much less, which makes it much more likely for you to crash and hurt someone when you have had a drink.

Of course when you add this onto the fact that drinking and driving is in fact illegal and once you are over the limit can get you into serious trouble, including jail, a fine and/or being banned from driving. Can you honestly say it is worth the risk?

However, when it comes to a drink, how much is too much? There are legal guidelines regarding units and how long these units take to disappear from your body. However that said, this is a guideline and everyone is different. A lot of the time we know our limit, but for example — do you know how safe you are to drive somewhere the morning after a night out? It can be a tough situation to call.

In this case you could benefit from investing in a breathalyzer. Not many people know that these can be bought for both professional and personal use. That means you could have a breathalyzer in your house, the same way a police office has access to one. You can then test yourself before you make the decision to drive and there will never be a time again when you are unsure just how safe you are to drive.
